WELCOME TO SLACK
WHERE WE HANG
Slack in our members only communication channel. It's where we connect with one another, share updates, have private channels for teams and more. When you join our Slack channel, please make your name as First Name | City You Live In. This helps us see who is where so we can connect to those close to us.
When you become a member, you will get a onboarding emailing welcoming you to the club. In the email, you will be provided with a link to join our Slack channel. In case you missed it, you can request to join HERE. Slack is available as an app on your phone so check out your app store to download.
Once you're in Slack, you will automatically be entered into our #general channel. This is where we update everyone on club updates, meeting reminders etc. The #general channel is and "open"channel, accessible by everyone. Some other "open" channels are #used-gear, #bunk-a-biker, #events and more. Take some time to browse through all the channels and please, DON'T BE A STRANGER. Say hi, share, and connect. Everyone who joins WeRoam tells us they wish they knew more women like them and guess what? They're here! So get involved. You can also see if anyone is the club is close to you, you can check out our Member Map.
In the image provided, any channel that starts with # is open for anyone to join. Anything with a lock icon is private.
TEAM CHANNELS
Every team has it's own Slack channel. It's run and managed by the team leader. This is where you ask any team specific questions and please, DO NOT BE SHY. This is also a great spot to connect with your team, learn when people are arriving to the country you're off too, if anyone wants to come early/stay late, share memes, etc.
We have created an entire WeRoam Member Resource page that will answer most of your questions but if there is anything that's not clear, THIS is where you ask it. Your leader will be your point of contact for most things regarding your expedition moving forward. Having said that, our internal team is always available if you'd like to speak with us.
You need to be added to your team channel by the admin. If you're not in your team channel, please email [email protected] and she will give you access.
PRIVATE CHATS
If you want to take a conversation out of the group to make plans etc, you can start a private chat with anyone in the club. Under direct messages is where you do that. When you hover over direct messages, a plus sign populates on the right hand side. Click that and type in the name of the person you're looking to connect with privately.
If you have concerns/questions about the club, you can start a conversation with Jamie Jenks and she will be happy to help!
